[ARTICLES] Dr. Kwon Soon Beom of ARC Plastic Surgery Presents Cheekbone Lifting Techniques at APS KOREA 2026

Dr. Kwon Soon Beom, the Chief Director of ARC Plastic Surgery, participated in the international academic conference, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Korea 2026 (APS KOREA 2026), where he presented his zygoma (cheekbone) lifting surgical techniques based on extensive clinical experience. In this presentation, he covered a range of clinical cases related to cheekbone lifting, with a focus on individualized surgical approaches tailored to each patient's unique characteristics. Dr. Kwon explained that his surgical planning is based on years of accumulated case data, incorporating a comprehensive analysis of anatomical factors such as facial bone structure, skin elasticity, and the degree of aging. In particular, he introduced a lifting technique utilizing Endotine devices to ensure stable tissue fixation while achieving natural contour changes. He emphasized that moving away from standardized procedures and adopting a customized approach based on each patient's condition and needs i...

[ARTICLE] Witch’s Chin: More Than Just Sagging Skin — “Requires Precise Diagnosis of Chin Bone Structure

A protruding, drooping chin that resembles a so-called "witch’s chin" often results not simply from aging or sagging skin, but from a combination of underlying anatomical issues. These may include skeletal irregularities and soft tissue laxity. To effectively address this condition, surgical intervention tailored to the chin—rather than generic lifting procedures—is often required. Dr. Soonbeom Kwon, Chief Director of ARC Plastic Surgery, emphasizes, “Witch’s chin is not something that should be approached based on appearance alone. Precise analysis through CT imaging is crucial to evaluate the length, protrusion, symmetry, and soft tissue condition of the chin. Only with this level of diagnostic accuracy can we design a personalized surgical plan that truly improves the condition.” In many cases, lifting procedures alone are insufficient, especially when the chin structure is protruding or elongated downward. The surgical approach must be adjusted depending on whether the issue lies in the bone structure or in soft tissue laxity. Dr. Kwon warns, “If surgery is performed without a full understanding of the chin anatomy, it can lead to unsatisfactory outcomes or complications. Accurate diagnosis is essential for meaningful results.” He further states, “Chin contouring significantly impacts the central facial profile, which makes a detailed diagnosis and precise surgical technique imperative. Because surgical strategies must be tailored to each individual’s chin structure, it’s vital to work with a highly skilled surgeon who possesses extensive clinical experience and anatomical expertise.” Chin surgery and facial contouring must be conducted based on a deep understanding of individual skeletal structure and skin condition, supported by a broad range of clinical data and experience.
